About
July 20, 2009Hello, I am Kristi of Kristi Wright Photography and I live in one of the best cities in the world – Austin, Texas. I love available light and the beautiful images it creates. You can blame my passion for photography on Seventeen and Vogue. That’s really where it all started even though I didn’t figure out that I should be behind the camera instead of in front of it until much later. That’s ok…life doesn’t have to be all figured out by the time you are 12.
My background is in film, which helps define my always growing and evolving photographic style. As a former actress, I hope that I can help you have fun and feel relaxed because I really do understand how strange it feels to have a camera pointed at you. I like to tell stories with my images but even the best stories need a little guidance which is why I love portrait sessions. Don’t worry. There will be no foliage backdrops hanging behind you (unless they happen to be real) and I promise to keep things fun. I love fashion and fashion magazines especially. Did I mention my crazy magazine habit? Don’t tell my husband about the new subscription to W I just ordered. Let’s keep that between us, ok? So I love images to have an editorial look to them.
But, hey, I’m more than just a photographer. I’m married to a wonderful husband and musician who has been super supportive of me in this whole journey. Thanks, Bee! I love to travel…love, love love it. When I’m in a new city, I truly feel alive. My husband jokes that I’m “up at dawn” when we are on vacation but you can hardly pull me out of bed most mornings. We are exact opposites in this manner. I would love the opportunity to shoot a destination wedding!
What else..I have a mad love for geeky sci-fi/vampire type stuff like “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” (tv show not movie), “firefly” (I bow to you Joss Whedon) and now I’m absolutely hooked on “True Blood”. If you aren’t watching it, you should be! It’s the sexiest thing on television.
I love good food and wine especially in the presence of friends. My tastes run the gamut from sushi to queso but nothing beats my grandmother’s fried potatoes. Yum!
Oh! …and I’m a die-hard Longhorn and I love Texas football….hook ‘em!
That’s enough rambling for today….Now let’s play!
You can email me if you’d like to know more!
