Marriage is a big deal. The wedding is just the pre-game warm up. When two people come together who are really meant to be, like Kelsey + Jeremy, it’s visible everywhere you look on their wedding day. From the smiles and tears in their eyes, to the helping hands of friends and family, to little surprises that make you laugh out loud…it’s a blessing.
I hope that you feel all of the love I was so honored to witness in these photographs. I can’t begin to tell you how in love with these two I am. Their family…oh my gosh…they could not have been sweeter or more welcoming to Sherry and I…treating us like old friends. There is a lot of discussion right now in the wedding industry about the role we play on the wedding day. Are we just another vendor the bride and groom have paid to be there for the day or is there more to it? I feel lucky that my clients go out of their way to not treat us like hired help but like friends. And this wedding was the epitome of that relationship. It shakes you to your core and makes you remember how awesome this job really is and how lucky we are to be let in on such an important day full of intimate moments that are so meaningful to two people and their families. The evidence is in the photos. That relationship breaks down walls that we all build up as protection. You see real people here who have forgotten all about the camera. It’s real and it’s awesome.
Everything you see here was put together by Kelsey and her parents, their friends, her bridesmaids…a true DIY wedding. How many weddings have you been to where Mom and Dad are busy in the kitchen making the bride and groom’s cakes? This is my first and it’s one of the tastiest cakes I’ve ever had. Get a load of that Groom’s cake with the coca cola igloo cooler…that’s some Cake Boss level shiz right there, folks. Here is proof that the amount of money you put in to your wedding does not equal the amount of awesomeness. The only ingredient you really need is love.
