Austin Event Photography | ACL 2009

October 22, 2009

Untitled-2

Yeah, yeah…I’ve seriously missed the train on this one. Forgive a busy girl would ya? Thanks. So as anyone who lives here in Austin knows, the Austin City Limits festival is a pretty big deal. We’ve gone the past two years in a row to the all-you-can-hear smorgasbord of bands. My bestie, Erin, and her boyfriend, Peter have traveled from the Big Apple both years to stay and play with us for the weekend. Super fun. This year the weather was awesome for the first day and a literal mud fest the rest. Ugh. Just not sure I can traipse around Zilker barefoot in sludge again. Wait. Did I just say traipse? I did. Anywho…I hope the city and C3 gets everything cleaned up. Here are some pics for your viewing pleasure :)

Day 1: Glorious weather. Just look at this light. Faint.

A little Rebirth Brass Band does the body good.

I love the Rebirth

A little bit country and a little bit rock-n-roll with Jypsi.

Have to post at least one of the husband and another random festival goer. Love her outfit.

Austin Event Photographer | Prom-o-Rama

September 10, 2009

Have you ever heard of Round Top? Warrenton? Junk Gypsy? Well, twice a year, Round Top, Texas, is the place to be. The MIL and I have been attending the April Round Top Antique Festival for a few years now and our favorite part of the event is going to Prom-o-Rama! Prom-o-Rama is held right outside the Junk Gypsy tent and everyone comes dressed up in prom dresses and other crazy outfits. There’s always a couple of bands playing so get ready to dance. It is so much fun..tons of quirky shopping. I always buy next year’s prom dress in advance. Can’t wait until April to wear my yellow frock!! But you don’t have to wait until April. You can go in October. It’s probably too late to find lodging because they get booked a year in advance in some places but if you live in Austin, it’s only an hour or so drive. Just a word to the wise and well, the not rich: stay away from Marburger. It’s ridiculously expensive to get in and you probably can’t afford anything once you do. We made that mistake the first year but not since. Stick to the stuff in the fields. It is more affordable and more fun to look at unless you have a mansion to decorate. Which we don’t so….

Last April, I made the acquaintance of Jolie Sykes, one of the Junk Gypsy owner’s and her little boy, Cash. I had just bought my camera and had so much fun taking pics of everyone in their prom outfits. I actually met a guy who swears his prom date wore my dress to their high school senior prom back in 1950-something in Galveston. What are the odds? Anyway, she contacted me this week to see if she could use some of the photos I took in April in her email campaign for the October prom. So here are a few for fun. You should definitely go. Stop in and say hello…you can pick up a Junk Gypsy t-shirt for me too if you want ;)

Austin Birthday Photography | The Liv Show

July 31, 2009

So, I happen to know the cutest girl in the whole wide world and she just turned two. When Liv’s dad, Tom, couldn’t find his camera, guess who saved the day? (waves hand crazily) I did, I did! It was so much fun watching her and the other kids have a ball and eat the best Costco birthday cake I’ve every had…OK it’s the only Costco cake I’ve ever had but it was good. Bee is still talking about it. Apparently the secret is cream cheese filling. Don’t you know cream cheese makes everything taste better? If you watch the slide show I created, you’ll notice Liv totally ignoring one of the gifts Bee and I got for her as her Dad informs her how she’ll be wearing it religiously in a couple of months. But she loved the bath toys we got for her. It’s the simple things, people.

Happy Birthday to my favorite girl! Muah! Click here to view the gallery. Once inside the gallery, click the large image to advance the photos.
