If you live in the south, saying I-do in the summertime is probably not at the top of your list. It’s just way too hot to have the outdoor wedding of your dreams. That doesn’t mean you can’t still get married in the summer. Here are some really great places to invite your wedding guests on an adventure.

Head West. The west coast has some of our the most beautiful locations to get married. Check out California, Colorado, Oregon and Washington for your summer wedding. You’ll find mediterranean type climates in places like Los Angeles, San Diego, Monterey and Montecito.

Go East. We love east coast weddings. There is charm for days to be found in these coastal areas and the cool outdoor air will be so nice during the summertime. You’ll find some of our favorite locations detailed below.

No travel fees for summer weddings in most of California, Colorado, Oregon, Washington, Upstate New York, The Hamptons, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine and Rhode Island. Contact us to learn more!

Redbird, Los Angeles, California – If you are thinking of saying I-do in LA, then Redbird has all the West Coast wedding vibes you can ever dream of. It’s a stunning location housed inside the former rectory building of Vibiana. This venue is timeless while still being contemporary. I seriously die over this space.

Mattei’s Tavern, Los Olivos, California – located in the Santa Barbara wine country, this historic landmark is the picture perfect place to get married. You’ll have the cutest garden party wedding here. Your guests can relax with a game of croquet. You can even stay onsite in one of the guest cottages or bungalows. Mattei’s is great for the laid back couple wanting a no fuss wedding.

The Landsby, Solvang, California – The Landsby is another Santa Barbara wedding venue that gets major props. If you are looking for the perfect California intimate wedding location, this might be the one for you. This inn is designed in the Scandinavian style. Minimalist bride and grooms would love it here.

Cypress Sea Cove, Malibu, California – Located in Malibu, the Cypress Sea Cove is a beachside wedding venue. Glamorous brides will fall in love with this Victorian charmer overlooking the Pacific Ocean. This venue has also served as a film set for many Hollywood movies.

The Bungalows, Santa Monica, California – When you think of a California wedding, a wedding at The Bungalows is exactly what comes to mind. Couples looking for that beachside feel and Baja wedding style will feel right at home here.

Plant Food + Wine, Venice, California – Modern, clean design and perfect for foodies. What a dream of a location to host a small wedding in Venice. Located on Abbot Kinney in the heart of Venice, this place is so unique for a wedding ceremony and intimate reception. Vegan brides and grooms will love having their wedding crafted by Matthew Kenney.

The PennySan Luis Obispo, California – I’m a huge fan of modern, industrial event spaces so I had to add The Penny to my list of recommended wedding venues. The Penny was originally a blacksmith shop built in 1930. You’ll find this urban space and outdoor courtyard in the heart of downtown San Luis Obispo.

Honorable Mentions:
Hudson Loft, Los Angeles, California
OUE Skyspace, Los Angeles, California
Velaslavasay Panorama, Los Angeles, California
Higuera Ranch, San Luis Obispo, California

The Venue at Crooked Willow Farms, Larkspur, Colorado – Located just 35 minutes from Denver, this Plum Creek Valley wedding venue is great for indoor and outdoor weddings. Your ceremony can be in view of the Rocky Mountains and valley or inside the 1920s barn loft space. This versatile venue also has an industrial and rustic ballroom for receptions.

Villa Parker, Parker, Colorado – Located just south of Denver is Villa Parker. This venue is reminiscent of a Tuscan villa with gorgeous views of the Rocky Mountains.

Known for their outdoor events, you may also use one of the three barns on the grounds at Cunningham Farm. This venue is well suited for weddings with up to 300 guests.

The Tides Beach Club, Kennebunkport, Maine – Luxury defined. The Tides is a gorgeous waterfront inn perfect for more intimate weddings. You and your guests will be able to stay onsite and enjoy the local, fresh seafood after having your dream wedding on Goose Rocks Beach in Kennebunkport.

The Barn on Walnut Hill, North Yarmouth, Maine – built in 1887 and located 20 minutes from Portland, is the The Barn on Walnut Hill. This venue is simple, elegant and full of charm. Situated on four acres, you have plenty of space for the  tented reception of your dreams. If you are planning a sophisticated, romantic wedding, you will love this place!

The Greenery, Milton, New Hampshire – a wedding venue 45 minutes north of Portsmouth, NH and an hour from Portland, Maine is The Greenery at McKenzie’s Farm. If you love Joanna Gaine’s Magnolia line, you will love the modern aesthetics of The Greenery. With 80 acres of fields, a private apple orchard and a view of Mount Washington, you have the perfect location for your outdoor summer wedding.

Tetherow Resort, Bend, Oregon – This Central Oregon venue is located in Bend near the Deschutes National Forest. Tetherow sits on a vast 700 acres and includes a golf course and 50 room boutique hotel. Don’t let the golf course fool you into thinking this place is old fashioned and stuffy. It’s anything but. The modern, open and light filled banquet hall has doors that open up to reveal gorgeous views. You can even have your wedding ceremony outdoors. It’s perfect for the rustic yet modern wedding.

Tendue, Portland, Oregon – Located in Portland, this loft style wedding space has all the makings of a French girl’s dream wedding. Floor to ceiling windows and romantic touches complete this venue. You’ll love Tendue for your more intimate wedding in Portland.

The Sablewood, Schoharie, NY – a barn wedding in the Catskills. Get married facing the mountains and dance by candlelight in the beautiful historic barn. The venue comes with french country style chairs and farm tables for up to 250 guests. If you’re dreaming of getting married on a working farm in Upstate New York, The Sablewood is yours for the taking.

The Arnold House, Livingston Manor, NY – a boutique wedding venue nestled in the forest of the Shandelee Mountains. This wedding venue is perfect for the foodie couple who wants an elegant rustic wedding. The midcentury modern Tavern also makes a great place for guests to gather. Take a look at The Arnold House for your outdoor summer ceremony.

The Surf Lodge, Montauk, NY – a coastal wedding venue in The Hamptons is perfect for the bohemian travel loving couple. The relaxed surf lodge vibe is the ideal place for smaller weddings and for couples who just want to hang out with their guests and not be tied down to all the trappings of a traditional wedding.

Navy Beach, Montauk, NY – a casual, chic wedding on the beach in Montauk. You’ll have a private beachfront all to yourselves making this a great choice for a destination beach wedding in the States.

The Hunter Greenhouse, Tannersville, NY – If you are thinking of eloping or having a very small, intimate wedding (think max 20 guests), then I’m not sure you can do better than the Hunter Greenhouse. Surrounding by the Catskill Mountains, this private property feels like something you would find in Architectural Digest magazine. It’s cozy and romantic and just perfect for the couple who wants to get away together.

The Barn at Boyden Farm, Cambridge, Vermont – If you love the idea of a vintage wedding, then you will be head over heels for the historic hayloft barn in Vermont. This farmhouse even has a vineyard on site.
